How To Tap Into Your True Power As A Leader

September 27, 20224 min read

You know you're meant to be a incredible leader who does incredible things. You have the experience, the qualifications, and the drive to succeed. But for some reason, you keep getting stuck. You might be blaming some external factors. You find yourself saying, "it's not the right time," or "as soon as I hit this milestone, THEN I'll do this."

Friend, it's never external factors holding you back. External factors will always make their appearance. But as soon as one goes away - another one is sure to show up. The only way to get past these mental roadblocks is to look internally. It's time to stop playing the victim - and tap into your true power as a conscious leader.

Here's what you can do.

Own Your Expertise

One of the most common leadership roadblocks is imposter syndrome - that feeling that you're not good enough, experienced enough, or qualified enough to lead. If you want to tap into your true power as a leader, one of the first things you need to do is own your expertise. Remember - your experience is valuable! Don't let anyone tell you differently.

Invest in yourself from a place of POWER.

When we invest in ourselves from a place of power (rather than because we are simply hoping for a miracle), we do so knowing that we have something valuable to offer the world. We do so knowing that we have something valuable to offer ourselves. We do so knowing that we are worthy of receiving time, energy, money, and resources - even if we don't have them all right now. Investing in yourself from a place of power is one of the most liberating things you can do for yourself - both professionally and personally. It allows you to show up in the world as your most authentic self - unapologetically confident and ready to share your gifts with those who need them most.

Speak Up

Women are less likely to speak up when things are not going as expected. But when you don't speak up for yourself, you are basically telling yourself that your thoughts and emotions don't matter - and that's a fast way to destroy your self-trust. It's mission critical that you learn to speak up when you're not getting what you need and want (and were promised) from a service provider. You matter. Be respectful. Be kind. Be clear. But SPEAK UP.

Show gratitude and appreciation

When you focus on all of your amazing accomplishments, both big and small, it can be really eye-opening and rewarding. Because when you really sit down and think about it - you've accomplished A LOT - and it's all incredible. This is extremely helpful in building self-trust. Remind yourself that you have what it takes to achieve anything you set your mind to. You can handle any obstacle that comes your way. You know this to be true - because you've already done it over and over again.

Be grateful for the progress you've made so far - even on the days when it seems like it's not a lot. Every step you've taken, every obstacle you've overcome, every decision you've made, is an indication that you are capable and deserving of great things.

Learn to trust yourself

One of the most important things you can do if you want to tap into your true power as a leader is learn to trust yourself. We've all been there - we're faced with a decision and we don't know what to do. We turn to our friends, our family, our colleagues... anyone who will listen because we are seeking some form of external validation.

The person who you REALLY need to be talking to... is yourself.

Listen to the nudges. Listen to those random flashes of inspiration. If something feels off - listen to it . If you're feeling pressured - don't do it . Learning to trust your gut instinct is an essential component of tapping into your true power as a leader.

Tapping into your power as a true leader takes time - but it's possible - and YOU are the only one who can make it happen. You can start building trust in yourself (and tapping into this true power) by owning your expertise, investing in yourself from a place of power, speaking up when needed, and showing gratitude for all the amazing things you have already accomplished.

The only limitation in this world that has the power to hold you back - is yourself. Once you break through the limiting beliefs inside your own mind, anything is possible.
