Be in the Room | Community Commitments

September 02, 20227 min read

Be in the Room is a community of women who are doing life and business differently. It's about being the best version of yourself, and becoming a better version of yourself every single day. So, whether you are in the free or the paid community, there are 12 commitments that our members make to themselves:

Radical Personal Responsibility

It's easy to feel like we're at the mercy of the world around us. We can't control the pandemic, the economy, or our life circumstances. But what we can control is how we respond to those things. We have the power to choose our attitude and our perspective. We can decide how we're going to react to what's happening around us. And when we take responsibility for our own happiness, we realize that life isn't happening TO us, it's happening FOR us. Everything that happens – good or bad – is an opportunity for us to learn and grow.

Self awareness

The most important relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself. It is so important to know who you are, what your triggers are, and what your strengths and weaknesses are. Once you understand yourself, you can begin to have a great relationship with yourself. When you trust yourself and have a good relationship with yourself, magic happens. You become confident and empowered to create the life you want. You become unstoppable.

Emotional Intelligence

As any leader knows, emotional intelligence is essential for success. After all, how can you hope to achieve your goals if you can't even control your own emotions? That's why it's so important to be aware of your emotions and where they're coming from. If you can understand your emotions, you'll be better equipped to manage them and respond in a constructive way. Take anger, for example. It's a perfectly normal emotion, but if you let it get the better of you, it can quickly lead to destructive behavior. Instead, try to understand where the anger is coming from and respond in a way that will defuse the situation and help you achieve your goal.

Power of your Words

The words we use have a powerful effect on ourselves and the people around us. Our words can make us feel a certain way, and they can also lead to positive or negative results. It's important to be mindful of the words we use, especially when we're communicating with others. When we use positive words, we evoke positive emotions and produce more positive results. By contrast, negative words can create negative feelings and lead to negative outcomes. So it's essential that we choose our words carefully, in order to achieve the best possible results. Our words are like a wand - they have the power to create or destroy, depending on how we use them.

Taking Care of Yourself

Self care is essential for leading a happy and successful life. When we take the time to recharge our batteries, we are able to show up as our best selves for the people and causes we care about. Whether it's taking a relaxing bath or going for a peaceful walk, taking time for ourselves helps us stay centered and focused. And while self care looks different for everyone, one thing is certain: we all need it.

Gratitude and Appreciation

Too often, we take the things we have for granted. We move on to the next thing without even pausing to appreciate what we have already accomplished. But if we want to achieve more in life, it's important to take time for gratitude. You might be working towards signing 5 new clients, but be grateful for the 10 you already have. Gratitude is currency. The more grateful we are for what we have, the more likely we are to get more of what we want. So, take a moment each day to appreciate all the wonderful things you have in your life. It's an important part of being an exceptional leader.

Spending Time with Yourself

How well do you know yourself? You may think you know everything there is to know about yourself, but the truth is that we are constantly evolving. Just as you get to know your spouse or best friend by spending time with them, you need to spend time with yourself to learn who you are. This doesn't mean that you need to isolate yourself from others, but it does mean taking the time to be alone and explore your own thoughts and feelings. When you take the time to get to know yourself, you may be surprised by what you discover. You may find that you have hidden talents or strengths that you never knew existed. Learning more about yourself can help you to grow and change in ways that you never thought possible.

Abundance Mindset

In today's business world, it's easy to get caught up in the idea of competition. With so many businesses vying for attention, it can feel like there's not enough to go around. However, this competitive mindset can actually be harmful to both our businesses and our well-being. When we view business in this way, it creates a sense of scarcity that can lead to negative thinking and behavior. On the other hand, adopting a more abundance-minded approach can help us to see the endless possibilities available to us.

Be the Solution

It’s easy to focus on the problem. To see what’s wrong and what needs to be fixed. But what if, instead of fixating on the problem, we looked for the solution? What if we saw ourselves not as the problem, but as the solution? It may seem like a small shift in perspective, but it can make all the difference. Because when we see ourselves as the solution, we realize that we have the power to change things. We don’t need anyone else to fix our problems – we can do it ourselves. And that is an incredibly empowering feeling.

Understanding Our Thoughts, Feelings and Beliefs

Every thought you have is creating your future. Every emotion you feel is attracting your experiences. Every belief you hold is shaping your reality. If you want to change your life, you must first change your thoughts, feelings and beliefs. By understanding how they all work together, you can reteach yourself how to think and feel about situations. When these things are in alignment, you will be in alignment with your highest self and will create the life you truly desire.

The Power of Your Presence

In a world that is always moving, it can be easy to forget the importance of being present. We are constantly bombarded with new tasks and goals, and it can be tempting to push aside anything that doesn't seem immediately important. However, taking the time to be present with your team and your people is essential. In a fast-paced world, your presence is a powerful reminder that people are not just numbers or cogs in a machine. Showing up and being present blesses people with your time and attention, and that presence is magic. It conveys that you value them as individuals, and it builds trust and loyalty. In a world that is always changing, your presence is one thing that you can always control. Choose to show up for your people, and watch how much difference it makes.

Growth Mindset

Learning is a lifelong process. Every day, we face new challenges that require us to grow and adapt. Feedback, whether it comes from our peers, mentors, or family, can be a valuable tool in helping us to see where we need to improve. Rather than seeing feedback as a personal attack, try to view it as an opportunity to learn and grow. There's always room for improvement, no matter how successful we may become.

Each of the 12 commitments that we've highlighted in this article are essential for anyone looking to grow in both their personal and professional life. However, they are especially important for women who aspire to become conscious leaders. By understanding and embracing these commitments, you'll be well on your way to achieving your goals and reaching your full potential.
